The lower house of Thailand has passed Thailand’s marriage equality bill. This bill allows same-sex couples to marry. There are still two steps to go before the bill becomes law. First the needs approval from the senate and second the bill needs approval from the king. It is expected that is approval process will take till the end of 2024.

If the bill passes, Thailand will be the first country in Sout East Asia to recognize same-sex marriages. This comfirms the open and welcome attitude which Thailand already has towards the LGBTQ+ community.
