Introduction

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and, together with Gran Canaria, the most popular gay destination of the Canary Island. The Canary Islands are a Spanish archipelago located off the coast of Africa. The island boasts a warm, sunny climate year-round, making it a popular destination for tourists seeking sun, sand, and sea.

Gay Life Tenerife compared to Gay Life Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is often considered as the gay capital of the Canary Islands with a large and diverse gay community. The island is home to the Yumbo Centre, a shopping and entertainment complex in Playa del Inglés / Maspalonas that is home to several gay bars and clubs, as well as restaurants. In the direct surrounding of Yumbo Centre you will find many gay friendly and gay only hotels. Gran Canaria hosts several popular gay events throughout the year, including the Maspalomas Pride and the Winter Festival. The island offers a more lively and party-focused atmosphere than Tenerife.

The gay scene in Tenerife is much smaller. There are several gay bars and clubs located in the resort towns of Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, two interconnected cities, located on the south coast of the island. In the capital city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, there are several gay-friendly bars and clubs. The 6th edition of the Cultural and Business Pride will be organized in July 2023. The nearby town of La Laguna also has a growing gay scene. Playa de la Tejita is a popular beach among the gay community. This beach has a clothes optional part.

Beautiful Nature Tenerife

Tenerife has much more to offer than just its beautiful beaches. The island is by far the most beautiful island of the Canary Island and has a lot to offer if you like hiking. For Example The Teide National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to Mount Teide, the highest mountain in Spain. The park is a stunning landscape of volcanic rock formations, including lava flows and craters. Another great place to hike it the Anaga Rural Park, this nature reserve is located in the northeast of the island and features lush forests, rugged coastlines, and traditional villages. Visitors can hike through the park to discover hidden beaches and stunning viewpoints. If you prefer to hike with a guide, you always can contact Jesper. Jesper is  a certified guide and friend of our website. He can take you to the most beautiful spots of Tenerife.

Another natural beauty are the cliffs of Los Gigantes. These towering cliffs are located on the western coast of the island and provide a stunning backdrop for the nearby resorts. You can take a boat tour to see the cliffs up close and spot dolphins and whales in the surrounding waters. For a great boat trip you can contact Kim, another friend of our websites.

“Tenerife a great Gay Friendly Destination! Lovely beaches, Beautiful Nature and Charming Cities! ”

The Garden Villa Hotel

Our last stay was in the Vanilla Garden Boutique Hotel in Playa de las Americas, a relatively small only adults hotel near the beach, (gay) bars and restaurants. The Garden Villa Hotel features 20 spacious and comfortable rooms. The hotel has different kinds of rooms. Standard rooms with balcony, rooms with a garden and a couple of suites. All rooms are spacious and well designed. The rooms are gathered around the swimming pool. In the area around the swimming pool there are plenty of very comfortable sunbeds and even some double beds and even if all are taken. One level higher there are more sunbeds so you don’t have to worry you cannot sunbath near the swimming pool. You can book a room at the Garden Villa Hotel with breakfast included or with breakfast and dinner included. The buffet style breakfast and dinner are both of good quality. Most of the evenings of our stay there was live music in the evening. Don’t expect too much from the gym, there are just a few appliances outdoors, near the swimming pool.

Other Gay Friendly Hotels

The Garden Villa Hotel is a suggestion for a very pleasant stay on Tenerife. As mentioned before there are many great options. Have look at other gay friendly hotels on Tenerife or maybe you have decided to spend your holidays on Gran Canaria. You can check out gay friendly hotels on Hotels For Gays Gran Canaria or on Only Adults Hotels Gran Canaria.
