During the state visit to Slovakia, the royal couple visited the gay café Tepláreň in Bratislava. Last October, Juraj Vankulič and Matúš Horváth were shot here while sitting on a bench in front of the café. The royal couple was clearly emotional during the conversation they had with the relatives of the victims and Radoslava Trokšiarová, who survived the attack.
The visit was intended as a statement of support and should contribute to the LGBTQ+ acceptance, which is very low in Slovakia compared to other EU countries.
