Thailand: One step Closer Recognizing Same Sex Marriage

The lower house of Thailand has passed Thailand’s marriage equality bill. This bill allows same-sex couples to marry. There are still two steps to go before the bill becomes law. First the needs approval from the senate and second the bill needs approval from the king. It is expected that is approval process will take till the end of 2024.

If the bill passes, Thailand will be the first country in Sout East Asia to recognize same-sex marriages. This comfirms the open and welcome attitude which Thailand already has towards the LGBTQ+ community.

Summer of 2023, Travelling is finally completely back for all over the world! People who booked their gay friendly trip or gay friendly holidays via Hotels for Gays mostly stayed in gay friendly hotels in Europe. The most popular gay friendly destinations of summer 2023 are Barcelona and Berlin shortly followed by Paris, London and Sitges. The Axel Hotel Barcelona and the Axel Hotel Berlin were the most popular gay friendly hotels in Barcelona and Berlin. In Paris there was not a clear most popular gay friendly hotel. Most of the booked hotels in Paris where set in the Le Marais, the gay area of Paris. In London the number 1 most popular gay friendly hotel was the Z hotel Soho.

Gay Parade Key West – Key West Pride

In a week time the Key West Pride will take place. This event officially starts on  Wednesday the 7th of June and ends on Sunday the 11th of June, but there is already a pre-opening event on Tuesday! A wide range of events are organized during the Key West Pride. The event is a platform for celebration, but also serves as a catalyst for change. Ofcourse the pride also promotes acceptance and fosters a sense of community.

The highlight of the events is without a doubt the gay parade.This edition of the parade celebrates the 20th anniversity of the special sea-to-sea diversity flag which was used in 2003. In 2003 an almost 2 kilometer long rainbow flag was constructed and shown to the world. The name sea-to-sea stands for the fact that the rainbow flag connected the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean. The orginal flag has been divided in pieces and distributed to pride events and festivals all around the world.

Upcoming Gay Pride – Vienna Pride June 1- June 18

The Vienna Pride will take place from June 1st to June 18th. The primary aim is to advocate for equal rights and raise awareness about LGBTQ+ issues. The event hosts numerous events and activities. These include workshops, panel discussions, film screenings, art exhibitions, and parties. The Vienna Pride offers a platform for education, empowerment, and dialogue on topics related to LGBTQ+ rights and social equality. One of the main events is the annual Pride Parade. The pride parade is called The Rainbow Parade and will take place on June 17th.

The roots of Vienna Pride can be traced back to the early 1990s when the LGBTQ+ movement gained momentum in Austria. The first Rainbow Parade took place in 1996 and was organized by the Hosi Wien (Homosexual Initiative Vienna), an influential LGBT rights organization.

The Eurovision Song Festival A True Gay Event

Tonight the first semi final of the Eurovision Songfestival 2023 will be broadcasted all around the world. In this first semi final 15 acts are trying to get enough votes to go through to the final. The final will be held on Saturday, May 13 2023. In this first semi final the top favourites are, previous winner of the Eurovision Songfestival, Loreen from Sweden with her song Tattoo and Käärijä with Cha Cha Cha from Finland. Ofcourse as a Dutch based organization we do hope that Mia and Dion will reach to the finals as well!.

The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual international music competition that brings together countries from across Europe (and, in some cases, beyond) to compete against each other in a live, televised event. The contest has been running since 1956 and is organized by the European Broadcasting Union. Each participating country submits an original song to be performed live on stage, and then viewers from around the world vote to determine the winner. Dutch Royals visit Gay Bar in Bratislava

During the state visit to Slovakia, the royal couple visited the gay café Tepláreň in Bratislava. Last October, Juraj Vankulič and Matúš Horváth were shot here while sitting on a bench in front of the café. The royal couple was clearly emotional during the conversation they had with the relatives of the victims and Radoslava Trokšiarová, who survived the attack.

The visit was intended as a statement of support and should contribute to the LGBTQ+ acceptance, which is very low in Slovakia compared to other EU countries.

In memoriam: Axel Leito

Axel Leito, the visionary behind the gay pride movement, has passed away at the age of 74. Leito, a prominent gay activist, dedicated his life to fighting for equality and visibility for the gay community.
